Who We Are
Mahoning Valley Dispute Resolution Services is an experienced mediation agency, providing dispute resolution services to residences and businesses in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana Counties since 1994. Our Mission is to help reduce the level of community conflict and violence by bringing together two separate parties that are unable to resolve a conflict such as: landlord/tenant disputes, employer/employee relations, neighborhood problems, business/property matters, consumer/merchant misunderstandings, divorce agreements, small claims concerns, family issues, probate matters and guardianship concerns.

How We Mediate
Parties involved in a dispute must agree to meet together with a neutral, impartial mediator to discuss the issues and generate options for resolving the conflict. When an agreement is reached, both parties enter into a Mediation Agreement and will receive signed copies.

Why We Mediate
Mediation preserves relationships through careful consideration of the issues which separate people, thereby helping them to make informed decisions.

Mission Statement

  • To reduce the level of community conflict and violence by mediating family, neighborhood, landlord/tenant, consumer and interpersonal disputes.
  • To offer citizens an effective and economical alternative to traditional dispute resolution institutions, especially the police and the courts.
  • To provide training, workshops and educational programs for students, businesses, non-profit agencies, civic groups and interested persons in conflict management and dispute resolution.

Things To Remember When Using Dispute Resolution Services

  • Mediation is scheduled quickly.
  • Mediation is confidential; the agreement belongs to the parties.
  • Mediation is free in most instances. Family mediation costs are based on a sliding scale.
  • Mediation allows the parties to create their own solution.

Truancy Prevention through Mediation
Truancy Mediation is a process that helps parents, caregivers, and schools find a fair and workable solution to children's truancy program. For information, please visit the Truancy Prevention page.
