Cold Weather Emergency Shelter Program
Help Hotline Crisis Center is the "One Number" for the Cold Weather Emergency Shelter Program. Since 1990, this program has provided shelter for homeless persons in Mahoning County during the months of December through March. The slogan "There is a Warm Place to Sleep" is seen on posters throughout the city of Youngstown in locations where the majority of the county's homeless persons frequent. A warm place to sleep, a hot meal and a hot shower are the essential components of this program. Homeless persons are provided shelter in the Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley. Emergency mental health and chemical
dependency backup is provided.
Guardianship Program
Is open to all Mahoning County residents under age 55 who are mental health clients of one of the Mahoning County Mental Health Board funded agencies.
Housing Assistance Program
Help Hotline is the fiscal agent for the mental health system HAP clients. For more information, please contact the HAP staff at 330-746-7721.
Payee Programs is the authorized representative payee for mental health consumers. It is also available for the MR/DD population from Mahoning and Trumbull counties. The program is located at 261 E Wood St., Youngstown, Ohio.
Recovery Services
The overall mission of the program is to "empower consumers of mental health services to accept their illness, take control of the management of their illness, and become an active member of their individual communities."
B.R.I.D.G.E.S. (Building Recovery of Individual Dreams through Education and Support) is a ten week course for mental health consumers taught by mental health consumers. Participants learn how medications work on the brain and, most importantly, learn about recovery. Topics included are principles of support, depression bipolar disorder, anxiety, panic attacks post traumatic stress disorder, self injury, and much more.
W.R.A.P. (Wellness Recovery Action Project) offers assistance in the development of skills to aid recovery.
New Horizons Support Group provides ongoing support for consumers who complete the BRIDGES training.
Senior Line
Information & referral and support services are available to the 55+ population of Mahoning and Columbiana Counties. Follow-up services are available as appropriate.

TDD
Since 1979, Help Hotline has provided an after-hours message service and dispatches assistance for emergency situations for the deaf and hearing-impaired through the TDD (Telephone Device for the Deaf) phone line. Information and Referral, and Mental Health services are also provided on this line. Hearing -impaired callers may also contact the Ohio relay Services at 1-800-750-0750
Victims Assistance
The agency provides immediate crisis intervention, and emergency linkage to rape counselors, domestic violence professionals/shelters. A Victims Advocate is available to provide community support, advocacy and reassurance to victims of crime following their traumatic experience.
Victims of Crime Support Groups
Help Hotline also sponsors and facilitates a support group for victims of crime as requested.
